Q. What can I purchase from you?
A. Our certification from the state of Nebraska as a perennial nursery stock grower is only for bearded iris, beardless iris and daylilies. All other plants are our personal collection.
Q. How do your iris rhizomes compare with those sourced from temperate climates?
A. Being field grown, generally without the aid of irrigation or shelter, our plants are more compact as they have adapted to the conditions. The plant size is representative of Midwest zone 5b growing conditions.
Q. How do your daylily fans compare with those sourced from a southern or greenhouse grown plant?
A. Being field grown, generally without the aid of irrigation or shelter, our plants are more compact as they have adapted to the conditions. The plant size is representative of Midwest zone 5b growing conditions.
Q. Where did the plant variety information/statistics come from?
A. The descriptions and statistics for the varieties offered for sale are taken from the American Iris Society and American Daylily Society plant databases. The information was provided to the appliable society by the hybridizer when the plant was registered and introduced for sale.
Q. Will the plants rebloom?
A. If the hybridizer indicated the plant would rebloom, that information is included. However, keep in mind many of these varieties only rebloom in certain zones with additional water and fertilization. We have not found a reliable rebloomer for zone 5b that gets all it needs from natural conditions.
Q. What are the general bloom seasons?
A. Iris generally have a spring bloom season and daylilies have a mid-summer bloom season. Exact months for bloom seasons vary by location. The designations (early (E), mid (M) and late (L) or some variation of) are where that variety falls within their respective bloom season.
Q. Where were your photos sourced?
A. All photos on the Hello Gorgeous Gardens site were taken by, and property of our team. These are photos of the plants growing and blooming in our garden. A variety of cameras have been used over the last 10+ years. Photos of the same flower can really vary based on the camera, type of light at the time the photo is taken, and age of the flower, just to name a few of the variables.
